A Little Help from my Friends

I had a hilarious intro to this post, that somehow got deleted. I think some crazy lady with red hair accidentally hit the backspace button and then didn't hit ctrl z in time to save her work. I don't know, Internet, that is just speculation. Anyway, I was asked to contribute to one of my student's birthday book. Her mom is putting together a scrapbook of sorts for her daughter's 13th birthday because she would like to do something significant to mark her tranisition from childhood to young adulthood. So here is where I need your help.

If you could tell anything to the thirteen year old version of you, what would it be? What advice would you give? What words of wisdom would you share?

Thanks for being part of my brainstomring process!

  1. Today is not a good day for my wisdom. Callie is 12 going on 13 & today I can't wait for her to be 18! I have always told all 3 of my girls that if a situation presents itself & you have to think twice about it don't do it! Sorry I'm not more help, today has not been a good day with my pre-teen !

  2. If I could tell the 13 year old version of me anything:

#1. No, your hair does NOT look good that way, actually.

#2. Don't worry so much about what other people think. Have fun. Enjoy.

#3. No, you do NOT end up marrying that boy you're obsessing over. So stop.

#4. Enjoy life now, because it will be a whole lot different in 5 years. Not bad, just different.

#5. Make really good friends. Friends who you enjoy being around, who enjoy being around you, who build you up and don't drag you down, who are positive, friends who are nice to you and to other people.

  3. I have a good one!!
    - If you get the oppurtunity to try something new that not everyone get to, take it! One day you won't have time for it.

    - Don't go out searching for your true love, let it find you! No most people don't marry the first person they fall in love with.

-It's not the quantity of friends you have, it's quality.

-Never treat people the way you wouldn't want to be treated, it makes you a better person in general and keeps bad karma away.
